Then Jesus proclaimed a series of dramatic promises that reshaped his followers’ idea of who gets to be included in God’s plan for a flourishing life. In the first of these statements, Jesus reframes true blessing from being about material abundance to being about receiving the abundance of God’s kingdom. This is good news for anyone who finds themselves in need.
