Christmas Blessings Project 2023

by Brady Ash on November 29, 2023

Christmas is a time of hope, love, joy, and peace. It is also a time for us to live more deeply into our Jericho Ridge core value of "generous living".

Each Christmas, we as a church community have a tradition of called the "Christmas Blessings Project." Collectively, we gather around our supported missions partners and the community we live in with acts of financial giving and/or service.

This year, we have three simple ways that you can engage with us on this project:

1) You can volunteer with Youth Unlimited's "Young Families Christmas Dinner" on Monday, December 11th.

2) You can donate supplies for new immigrants at Raphael House.

3) You can give financially to bless our five Jericho Ridge supported missions partners.

There is an abundance of causes that call for our support both locally and globally, and we encourage you to support whatever God is calling you to this Christmas. The Jericho Ridge Christmas Blessings Project is our opportunity to highlight the people and causes that God is calling us to support as a church community. We hope you engage with us in whatever way you feel called to "generous living".

Here are more details about how you can participate with us this Advent...

Goal: Support youth unlimted's young families

Claire Penner works for Greater Vancouver Youth Unlimited's Young Families program in Surrey. Young Families is committed to seeing families restored and lives transformed. They provide a community of care and support to young moms and dads when they're at their most vulnerable. On Monday, December 11th, the Young Families program is hosting a Christmas dinner for their young moms and their families. This will be an evening of food, crafts, photos, and fun for the whole family! To make this event happen, they're in need of volunteers to help prior, during, and after the dinner. If you're interested and/or would like more details, please contact Claire Penner.

Goal: Raise $5,000 for JRCC’s Supported Mission Partners

JRCC has five supported global mission partners who work in everything from Bible translation, to relief and development, to youth work. Our desire is to support our missions partners by raising a combined pot of $5,000 that we would then distribute five ways. You can donate online via all of the usual JRCC channels. Please make a note that your financial gift is for the Christmas Blessing Project.

Goal: support raphael house new immigrants

Partnering with Raphael House has given us the opportunity to care for those within our community. Raphael House is an organization within Langley that reaches the needs of refugees. For Christmas, we are hoping to donate food and toiletry items to bless in-need families that are new to Canada. Once you have purchased your items, bring them with you to church on Sunday and place them in the Raphael House box at the back of the auditorium near the Kid's Check-in kiosk. Here are some of the items we are hoping to gather together this Christmas: pasta, cereal, crackers, oatmeal, rice, chickpeas, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush/toothpaste, floss, deodorant, soap, diapers, and baby wipes.

Thank you Jericho, for engaging with us on this project! We are excited to see how we can bless those within Jericho, in our surrounding community, and around the world. As we head into Christmas together, let's keep our hearts and minds focused on how we can serve Jesus, and each other, well. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at .
