This August 2-18, our family will be travelling to Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission in India with a team from Global Aid Network (GAiN) Canada and we would like to invite you to join us! In my ministry with GAiN, I get to step back into working with our short term mission teams this summer and I am thrilled!
Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission has served the needs of destitute women and children in India for over 130 years and has a rich history of demonstrating the love of Christ in many needed ways. On Mukti’s large campus, you will find multiple schools for children of all ages including children with special needs. You will find a beautiful old church with a deep faith community, a dairy farm and a small hospital ministering to the needs of the community. Homes for children and women who have retired and need care are sprinkled throughout campus including a home for women and children who are blind but able to live independently on Mukti’s campus.
Every time we are there, I am challenged by the practice of presence even as we put our hands to many needed tasks, supporting the staff and residents. After a daily time of praise and sharing with the staff team, we move to serve in a variety of ministry assignments throughout the day, perhaps serving the girls at the special needs school or helping with a maintenance project around campus. The afternoons are often spent visiting the Flower Families or helping with afternoon Sunday school throughout the week. We debrief in the evening or spend times helping with homework or planning daily Sunday school activities or an event to encourage the local staff team.
