GROWING A MOVEMENT OF EVERY DAY GENEROSITY

It's amazing to see God's creativity, love, and generosity on full display each and every day. People connected with Jericho generously give their time, service, talents, and treasures through so many acts of worship, and we invite you to join us in our movement of every day generosity!

Whether it be donating wheelchairs for Guatemala, serving with volunteer teams on the weekend, using text-to-give, or dropping cash or cheques into the offering. Each and every act of generosity matter and helps change the lives of others. Everyone's gifts and service are acts of worship that truly bring us all closer to our Creator!

Why Give?

As a church, we believe that we are called to respond to the generosity of the gospel by giving extravagantly to the progress of the gospel in our community and world. Biblical generosity is not about meeting budget needs. It is about a rich and trusting relationship with a living God. We express our faith and love to Him by honouring Him as the source of everything we have. Scriptural giving is performed with regularity, from the first portion of all we are given, as a proportion of our income, cheerfully, and without pressure or manipulation.

What is Tithing?

Tithing is our starting place in giving. The Bible teaches us about a baseline standard for giving: the tithe (a word that literally means a “tenth”). When we give the first 10% of our income through the local church, we put God first in our lives. Tithing is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude, faith, and love for others. God also encourages us to give offerings beyond our tithe to specific projects at our local church and to other organisations and causes that we personally believe in.

Is Online Giving Secure?

Whether you’d like to give a single gift, schedule recurring donations, or view your giving history, you can do it all online. It’s quick, easy, and secure. Both Push Pay and Jericho Ridge maintain full Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance via the SecurityMetrics PCI Certification Program, which means your data is rigorously protected through the industry's strictest equipment safeguards and security protocols. That means you can give with confidence!

Please note that when you give with a credit card, MasterCard and Visa get to keep their piece of the pie so while you are receipted for the full amount, JRCC does not receive the full amount.  We recommend that if you are giving a larger amount or if you are planning on giving this way regularly, that you either top up slightly (for example, give $105 instead of $100) or choose a different method of giving (for example, a gift made via debit only costs us five cents no matter the amount).

How does Text-to-Give work?

We have partnered with a company called Pushpay to receive donations online or on your phone.

To start giving on your smart phone, simply text the word "JERICHO" to 77977 and you will receive a link to JRCC's custom giving page.

When you send 'JERICHO' to 77977 you will receive a one time reply containing a link to give to Jericho Ridge Community Church (1msg/request). Please be aware that Msg & Data rates may apply. For full Terms & Conditions please visit https://pushpay.com/terms. For the Privacy Policy please visit https://pushpay.com/privacy. For help reply HELP or STOP to cancel

How do you donate to an Elder-approved project?

The elder's board can activate an opportunity for giving to projects beyond the general budget. These include things like Benevolence, missions (Guatemala), capital campaigns or other projects. Donors are then able to designate their giving toward a project by either...
  • Writing the project name on the memo line of their cheque or on the outside of their offering envelope
  • Indicating verbally to the welcome centre host their designation if giving in person on a Sunday
  • If giving online, look for the drop down box with the project title.
  • If giving via e-transfer or to JRCC as a payee in your online banking platform, please email  so that we can clearly honour those intentions.

It can be easy for poverty to become impersonal. We can think in terms of statistics and challenges like migration to the southern border of the USA. But each year, JRCC raises funds and sends people to Central America striving to make it possible for families to stay in Guatemala and achieve a better life for them and their children. We focus our work on women and children and on those with disabilities because they are often the most vulnerable in their culture.

Jericho Ridge’s Policy for Donations

Spending of funds is confined to programs and projects approved by the organization. Each restricted contribution designated towards such an approved program or project will be used as designated with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason determined by the organization, the remaining restricted contributions will be used where needed most as directed by the board.

From time to time, the Board of Elders will approve the giving toward a project that falls outside of the general operating budget. This is usually done in response to a cost that was not anticipated (such as disaster relief) or a short-term missions project.

There are currently three elder-approved projects that you can give toward:

  • Facilities Fund (our capital campaign to raise money for our building)
  • Benevolence Fund (this is an ongoing project)
  • Guatemala Team (spring missions project)

For instructions on how to contribute to an elder-approved project, please read the response in the FAQ above.

All personal information that is collected will be kept private and confidential. Access to this information is severely restricted in accordance with privacy laws and financial policies commensurate with the Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC). If you require additional information, please contact Constance in our office.

If you want to change the amount, a new authorization form will need to be signed and submitted to the JRCC office. Please submit this form at least two weeks before your next scheduled withdrawal. If you anticipate that you will want to change the amount of your monthly giving more frequently than twice a year, please consider an alternative giving option. It will provide less work for everyone.

Jericho Ridge Community Church is an approved charity with the Canadian Revenue Agency and therefore files an annual report to maintain our charitable status. In addition, our membership votes on and approves the operational budget in advance of every calendar year. If you have questions regarding the financial operation of JRCC, we welcome an opportunity to interact with you. Please contact  , our financial administrator.
