Obedience Doesn't Always Lead to Blessing

Is there a formula for God's blessing? Does the Bible teach a kind of karma? From some passages, it might seem so, but not all the Bible can be easily reduced to tidy formulas. Whether we are #blessed is up to God, and life doesn't always turn out the way we expect or want it to. Consider Paul, who was obedient to the Lord to spread the Gospel message, but often suffered greatly and was often poor. And yet, he was content in all circumstances. Obedience does not guarantee success and contentment is learned not earned. So what act of obedience is God inviting you into and what could be the cost of that obedience?
