Mephibosheth is first named in the Bible through parentheses. His introduction and significance are told as side-notes (2 Samuel 4:4). But later on, King David summons this crippled son of Jonathan and teaches him that grace can never be earned, just taken. It's not just a story about Mephibosheth, it's a story about our lives too.
