Dear Jericho Ridge Family,
At our most recent transitional meeting on Monday, February 10th, we gathered to pray and discuss the missional merger process that JRCC is engaging with North Langley Community Church (NLCC). As part of this process, we have been praying together with NLCC for a Campus Pastor to lead us into a new season of ministry.
Today, we are pleased to announce Ben Frederiksen's candidacy for the Campus Pastor position.
Ben has been serving as the Pastor of Care and Young Adults at NLCC since 2017. He enjoys building into leaders and teams, overseeing care systems, teaching courses and pastoring the Senior’s group. He appreciates the diversity of people he gets to know and disciple.
Prior to coming to NLCC, Ben studied at Regent College, Vancouver. He holds a Master of Arts in Theological Studies degree from Regent, a Master of Theology degree from the Vancouver School of Theology and is completing a Certificate of Spiritual Care from ACTS Seminaries in April 2025. His bachelor’s degree is from Calvin College (now University) in Michigan, where Ben studied Spanish and international development. After university, Ben served as a volunteer with children living on the streets in Lima, Peru, and teaching English in Chile. Ben speaks Spanish and German.
Ben is married to Lillian, and they have three young girls, Winter, Wren and Poppy. Lillian has worked in ministry with DRIME (an evangelism ministry of Power to Change) for many years and still serves part time there. As a family, they enjoy playgrounds, going for family walks, and reading books. Their extended family is in Ontario (Lillian) and New Mexico (Ben). Ben loves hiking, biking, and playing soccer and wishes he had more time to do all those things.
Last Sunday, February 16, Pastor Ben joined us at Jericho Ridge to lead us through God's Word as we continue in the Book of Acts together. As both Pastor Wally and Pastor Brady had planned to be away, this speaking arrangement with Pastor Ben was initiated months ago, without he or us knowing his name would ultimately be put forward for the Campus Pastor position. Needless to say, God knew more of His plan than we did. It was a blessing to welcome him and get to know him last week and we look forward to getting to know him even better at our upcoming transitional meeting on Monday, March 10 at 7 PM.

As part of the candidacy process, NLCC will host a Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 9, at 7 PM at the Walnut Grove Campus. If you call JRCC or NLCC home, you are invited to attend. NLCC members will be invited to vote on the merger process during this meeting. To check out NLCC's meeting info and resolutions, please click here.
